Our Story
Island Farmacy was established in 2021 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Galveston, Texas, dedicated to cultivating food as medicine. Our mission is to improve community health by addressing food insecurity, promoting healthy diets and lifestyle changes, and supporting mental well-being. We aspire to create and maintain a sustainable garden while fostering a healthier, more connected community.
At Island Farmacy, we believe in the power of community engagement and education to drive positive change. Our platform serves as a space for individuals to come together, learn about food as medicine, and work towards a healthier future. We aim to engage the community and facilitate fundraising efforts to support our mission.
Leadership
Island Farmacy is led by UTMB medical students committed to improving community health through food access, education, and service. Guided by the belief that nutrition and environment play essential roles in well-being, our leadership works alongside community partners and volunteers to cultivate sustainable spaces that support health in Galveston.
